You can also enjoy the show offered by local riders, kicking it both on and off the water.

A cool vibe

Great location right on the beach, super infrastructure for kitesurf lessons, buggys to go for downwinders and lagoons and a cool vibe.

Practical infos

Icaraizinho or Icarai of Amontada is a small coastal village of the state of Ceara in the Northeast region of Brazil. Located in a beautiful bay surrounded by coconut trees and colorful fishermen’s boats, the place has something magical. See below a few pictures of the place.

Bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and the trade winds, and on the other by hundreds of km of dunes that warm air masses creating thermal winds, the coast between Fortaleza and Parnaiba is one particular place where the wind statistics are the most incredible, with nearly 300 days of wind per year and 100% between July and late January.

The Brazilian people are very friendly and pleasant, but you might feel the language barrier as very few locals will be able to understand English. Buy yourself a Portuguese guide and go through it during a few days before you come, you will be happy to communicate! Make the effort, you will see Brazilian portuguese is a beautiful language.

The currency is the Brazilian real (R$). At the moment 1 € = R $ 4.2. There are no banks in Icaraizinho, and your credit cards won’t always be accepted in shops or local restaurants, so it is recommended to plan ahead. The euro is fairly well accepted (or changed). You can easily withdraw money at your arrival in Fortaleza. Check your withdrawal limits.

To get there

Fortaleza’s international airport (FOR) is well connected with Europe or the U.S.. TAP, GOL, TAM, Air France are options to get there. For those who come with a board bag, attention, most companies are now taxing the transport. From the airport, we can arrange transfer by taxi or explain you how to take the bus (1 bus / day in 14h from the main bus station). Please contact us for any information!

The team

Who are we?

Beach Mermaid

From Canada, having worked for long in the fashion area, and after a career switch to radical sports and Kitesurfing, Caro chose to follow her heart to come live her dream and passion in Brazil. She works with Alan at the kite station, takes care of the shop and bar. She’s responsible for the delicious cocktails and drinks. With her mermaid look, and her sweet style, she will seduce you in and out of the water (unless she starts speaking, because let’s agree, Canadian accent is a nasty thing :’D).

Beach marshall

When not on the water sending a kiteloop slimchance or upside down giving a capoeira class, Jardel is the club’s multitask man. Pleasant and always smiling, he is also an excellent kite instructor kite, always available to help you on the beach, teach you a new trick or pass you his good mood!

Hamock World Champion in 84

Addicted to kitesurfing for the last ten years, Alan has swapped suits and ties for board shorts and sandals to live his passion and set up his ownn kite school in Brazil. He will be pleased to give you some tips on the good places to go in the village (Go for the lobster at Chico’s!), and will do his best to help you enjoy your stay!

Cabana do Kite offers a very nice accommodation in partnership with Pais Tropical Pousada, in charming little bungalows that can host between 1 and 5 persons. Located 50m from the beach and 300m from the kite school, the pousada is a little piece of paradise and peace, joining 15 bungalows, a nice restaurant functioning at night, a tropical garden and a large swimming pool.
